Sony Helmet Cam Teaser!

If I was Gopro I would do a BlackMagic, that is expand in other camera/imaging markets. The reasons is that with the competition from those big companies, these type of action cam are going to cost peanuts in 2-5 years. So better have a more diversified portfolio of product catering for different market.

In this day and age the specs are all I am looking at from these cameras. As a video person, I am tired of overly compressed footage even if it is HD. We still want to be able to color correct if needed and not have a baked in "crappy cam" look! The GoPro update sounded great yet is has not appeared. I am sure someone will go there, maybe it will be the Sony.

Interesting on the Heli blades.

Rock on small cams.

Persaonaly I just go an NEX 5n becuase I prefer the bigger chip, control and 16 2.8

Cuts better with my FS100..

Great price! I wonder if it has a "flat" picture-profile like the GoPro2, and if we can set it to 24FPS (doesn't look like it tough)?

Technically speaking, full HD would be 1080p120. But I see what you are saying. Pretty cool to see 120fps in a small camera. But it would be wise to wait for the implementation as the initial release if often seem more rosey sounding than the actual use.

Yep quality of picture is the future. Im sick of compression artifacts in my GoPro videos.

I've expected GoPro to have highspeed modes for a while now, I think with this, the Hero3 is going to have to knock it up a notch.

The only differences that I can see between the HDR-AS10 ($199) and the HDR-AS15 ($270) is that the HDR-AS10 lacks WiFi - is this correct?

Given GoPro's up and coming bitrate boost and flat picture-profile, I still think they'll have the edge on the Sony cams.

I doubt that. GoPro has never really looked that great and Sony has a great track record recently with good image quality from little cams like the Sony HX9v.

I dunno, I got to see some Technicolor flat 35Mbps footage off the GoPro a few months back online, looked pretty good. The thing that worries me about the Sony is the "HQ" bitrate - according to the spec-sheet, it's only 16Mbps. Just seems a bit low, that's all. I hope the Sony looks better cause the pricing is amazing. Especially for the HDR-AS10 - $199.
