I'm planning on taking a handy cam on vacation. I normally shoot on an XL1, but too big for travel. I plan on taking misc. footage of new baby, scenery, family reunion - all personal schtuff. I can either borrow the 30gb HD Sony (AVCHD) or a cheapo dv cam.
I edit in Premiere (RTX.100) and FCP. Nothing (yet/ever) in HD.
The question is.... will I be stuck with unusable footage with the Sony or will the quality override any trouble getting into my system via SVIDEO or down-convert to SD?
Should I stick with the dv cam and be happy that I can easily capture via fw.
