You don't get the global shutter with the F5 but the sensor is the same as the F55 so you probably get the same or similar image as the F55 with the lesser priced Sony F5. Looks like the street price will be reasonable.

The sensors are actually quite different, the F55 has smaller micron photo sites due to global shutter implementation. The result is not as low-light capable as the F5/F3.

Other considerations:

- The F55 uses color dyes in the CFA (color filter array) that is said to produce colours on the sensor exceeding (or extending) the color gamut past that of film.
- The F5 uses a CFA more in tune for REC709.

- The F55 has a native ISO of 500 (specs just released last week, the initial published ones were in SLOG modes which not everyone will always want to shoot. There are some new hyper gamma modes that will deliver 1000 but you will only get the via custom picture profile.) 1250 in SLOG.
- The F5 has a native ISO of 800 and 1600 in newer hyper gamma modes. 2000 in SLOG.

I think the images will be quite different.
 
At CVP the F5 comes down to 12.788 € = 16.543 $ I wonder what's going to happen to the F3s when the F5 hits the market?
The price is without any kind of viewfinder. Thats another 2.5k €. So that comes around to 16.3k € !

interesting if you go down to the bottom of the page they have the recorder at $5,350... I thought it listed for $6,300 or around there... that comes out around 15% off list... so hopefully if this number is true... everything else will drop 15% also...
