Sony EX1 on Public Enemies

I was watching the trailer of Michael Mann's new movie Public Enemies, which looks great by the way. What I noticed was that, the fast car scenes, and some random scenes did not match the other scenes. I found out that the movie was shot on the F23 and the EX1.

Something for all the Sony EX1 owners to cheer about not that they weren't already.

Yeah, the previews definately had a digital quality. That's awesome about the EX1!

I've been seeing the previews in theaters lately and have to admit some of those night scenes were....a little weird looking. But no different from "Miami Vice' or "Collateral." I think it had to do with the low shutter speed (1/24) Michael Mann likes to use...which to me causes this strange looking motion. Anyways..the footage looked good. Some folks think that it looks more like "an expensive History Channel documentary"....but it looked ok to me. It was a little noisy in places but I have to say the image did not compare to "Knowing" which was shot entirely on the Red One camera. That movie was crispy clean and fooled you into thinking it originated on film.

Robert Rodriguez mentioned at his SXSW 2009 panel that they were finishing up MACHETE, and that they used Sony EX1s to film the movie.
