Anyone try this tape yet? Also , I have a question.l I've only got about 6 hours on my heads and have been using crappy Panasonic tape purchased at Walmart (yes, I am ashamed of myself, but I didn't know better until I found this site). I'm gonna switch to the best tape I can find and stick with it, but do I need to clean my heads first, since other posts on this site have noted that mixing lubricants can mess the heads up ?

Re: Sony DigitalMaster tape?

yes clean your heads before changing tapes and you will be fine.

Re: Sony DigitalMaster tape?

Not sure about this "DigitalMaster" product. Sony has been offering/pushing a "Master series" DVCAM tape for a couple years now. When I when to the DigitalMaster website, they claim Bennet Miller's "The Cruise" was shot on this Digitalmaster...although that indie feature was shot several years ago (3+?) on a VX1000.
So personally I am not sure if this is a new formulation...or simply new packaging. I will try to get an answer from Sony on this.
I will post back with any info.
All the best,

A tidbit of info I should add...
According to a Panasonic Engineer I spoke with you should run a cleaning tape for 5 seconds...stop...then eject...then close the door and play for another 5 seconds. Not 10 seconds consecutively! Apparently this is due to the massive amount of heat generated from heads spinning at 9000rpms.
And never, ever use anything but a cleaning tape to clean the heads with DV...don't ever clean a DV/DVCAM/DVCPRO camera the way we used to clean Betacams (Isopropyl and Chamois Swab)...A NO NO.
FWIW thought I'd pass this along.
