Sony Broadcast Quality VHS

I know this is probably not the best area of DVX to post this but i couldnt seem to find a catagory for this. Does anyone see a diffrence between video put onto a Sony Broadcast Quality VHS or just a generic "high grade VHS" I am not sure if i see a diffrence i used one and then used another and never compared side by side. A client wants VHS copies as well as dvd and i dont know if it worht getting broadcast. Are there any tips of making better quality VHSs. i know to leave 10 seconds black to leave room for the vcr ot warm up but doesnt matter what type of VHS tape i use, my color bars come out dark and the VHS comes out dark, even after correcting black levels. Any way to make it look cleaner also?

AFAIK the biggest difference in VHS "grades" is fewer dropouts in the higher grades. As long as you're using something better than the cheapest grade (or any grade BASF ;) ) you should be okay. And I'd leave more than just 10 seconds black. I've personally always left 2 minutes or so (inclusive of the color bars and tone).

New tapes should be fast-forwarded all the way to the end, and rewound again, before first use.

The deck that you use to record is probably more important than the tape. Make sure you use a decent one. Some VHS recorders record terrible (well every thing is on VHS!) sound.
