Sony A99 specs

I've been keeping a keen eye on developments at Sony ever since they brought out the FS100. Sony have been making great sensors over the last couple of years and I figured it would only be a matter of time before they made a DSLR that would outclass the 5D MKIII. Here are the rumoured specs for the Sony A99-

24 megapixel full frame sensor
50Mbit/s 4:2:2 AVCHD
120fps 1080p
240fps 720p
uncompressed HDMI output
timecode
SLT/EVF

Mid September announcement with a street price rumoured to be around the same as the D800.

If Sony releases the A99 with those specs, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

I assume the 1080p 120fps and 720p 240fps are via buffer like the FS700. Even so that's not bad.

It'd be wonderful if RAW video in cameras like the (eventually upgraded FS700) became the new separation between videocams and DSLRs, so that putting higher end codecs in their DSLRs didn't threaten Sony's higher end products - so that we could get a camera with specs like those, delivered.

I think as always they will forget something along the line to protect there other cameras as the last nex camcorder that does not have built-in ND. For this one, I guest moire and aliasing.

One downside I can readily see is that it'll most likely use the Sony Alpha lens mount, and the only "adapters" I can find for my LR and OM primes are replacement mounts.

Well the rumoured specs where a bit off but the Sony A99 24.3 megapixel full frame DSLR has arrived. $2800 US list. It does 24/60p 1080p with a clean HDMI out. Internal codec is same old same old crappy 24Mbit/s AVCHD. There's an external XLR attachment for a mere $800!

Until somebody gets their hands on one the jury is out on aliasing, moire, resolution, rolling shutter, dynamic range, and low light performance but the specs look good.

1st footage for the pixel peepers. 2 bad about the dodgy youtube compression.

HDMI output is 8bit 4:2:2

It is though! Sucks that Sony went with the A mount for the A99 - oh well, I guess they don't really want to beat Nikon or Canon after all.

I understand what your saying, but if they put an e-mount on it, all the stills shooters would say "WTF why would sony put an E-Mount on a FF camera when there are no E-Mount lenses capable of covering the FF sensor".

Don't forget the A99 is a STILLS camera first and a video camera second.

The AG900 is a Video camera first and a stills camera seconds (if at all) hens the E-Mount.

Well aliasing or not it's pretty clear the image STILL remains a fake 1080p. Soft and lacking details. And so will the other cameras with the same sensor. Sony is playing like Canon, they will never give you a real 1080p detail on "cheap" cameras, you have to buy their high end video ones (or the GH3 :D)

BTW I do see moiré

Not sure I understand this wall of text here...
Do I need to remove my mount for another mount to use Nikkor glass? Or can I just use a bolt on adapter as I do w/ my EOS bodies? I don't want to remove the native adapter from the lens itself, as I'd like to use it back and forth from time to time.

Also is the K-mount similar to the A-mount? Very confused here.
