Sony A1u or Canon HV30?

I'm looking for a tiny HD camcorder that can do 24fps (real or fake, as long as it looks good)

I see a craigslist ad for a Sony A1u for $750 with some accs bonuses. Seems like a good deal considering they're still around $2000 new. A new HV30 is also $750 at amazon.

Can anyone tell me how these compare? Obviously the A1u is more expensive, but the only advantage I see that it has is the XLR module (which is removable to keep it small if your not using it, very cool) but it's also almost 3 years old! I'd assume the HV30 would have better guts purely because it's only a few months old. Is this incorrect?

Any info would be appreciated.

THANKS! :)
