I exported my movie using the media encoder and the process went ok. But when i went to open the file when it was finished I noticed that there were TWO different files, one of the audio, and one of the video, SEPERATE from one another. Is this normal? What did I do wrong and is there any way to fix it? Thank you

you must have exported to separate audio and video files. what settings did you use?

thanks for the response but i dont think so. I only saved one time and the settings were all the standard settings I tweaked a couple like video quality and file extension but i didnt touch audio or anything.

If I did do as you suggest, I sure as hell don't know how or what I did.

This is normal if you exported for DVD.

Usually the media encoder will make an .m2v video file along with a .wav file for sound or possibly an .ac3 file if you used Dolby 5.1 encoding. These are standard formats for DVD authoring. Simply reassemble them together in the timeline when you author in any DVD authoring program.

If you do not want to export for DVD, just make sure you change the preset for something that will allow you to save as a single file format of your choice.

ok thanks. but now im having ANOTHER problem. Im using nero to make the dvd, and Ive been able to ectratc the audio file but I'm unable to get the video file. When i click on the folder it is in and have the menu set to video files or .avi there is nothing there! Any solutions?

It sounds like Nero does not support the .m2v format

If you do not have any other DVD authoring software and want to use Nero, I would suggest re-encoding a new file from Premiere. Just go in and switch to an mpeg 2 preset instead of a DVD preset and you should be able to output a single mpeg file that will work. As long as you set the properties and bit rate to similar settings with the DVD preset, the quality should end up being just as good.

regarding my previous post, both my audio and video files are winamp or .avi files. And like I posted above, I am able to extract the video file (it shows up), but the video file does not.

I was thinking, does it have anything to do with how I exported the project through PP and the encoder. I think I used mpeg-dvd. Could that be the problem? Thanks

To get just one mpeg file. In the MPEG-DVD option screen go to the Multiplexer tab and selection the "DVD" option (the other option is none, which will give you a separate video and audio file). This will give you just one mpeg and not a .m2v file.
