Ok. So I just got the new CS3 with support for .mxf files. I setup a new project using the DVCPROHD 720p 24p preset (I shot the footage in 720pn on the HVX-200).
So editing the footage is fine, it all looks good and in the proper widescreen aspect ratio, but when I export it at the project settings of 960x720 I get a 4:3 like image. Not widescreen. And it clearly looks distorted.
Ok. So now I figure I will export at the HD standard resolution of 1280x 720, and hopefully the footage will not lose resolution in the stretch.
This resulted in black bars being added to the edges of the frame, while the video itself is still in that screwy 4:3 aspect ratio and distorted.
The only solution I have found is to start a custom project setup at 1280x720. This resulted in an export that looked as I thought it should. It wasn't distorted and didn't seem to lose much resolution from stretching.
Someone please let me know if this is the best solution to getting a nice video export.
Because, if it is, it would seem that Adobe's built in preset for 720pn footage is just worthless.
I appreciate any response. Thanks.
