EDIT: Xian Messerschmidt, Suggested an idea, WTB, FS WTT sections, can't seem to add it to the poll though :(

I agree. Actually I would like some type of limit on how often people can bump their add. Every day is crazy and some people do it several times a day. It has gotten so bad that the marketplace is almost useless because you have to wade through the same postings to try and find something new.

I don't know, I feel like most people are actually pretty restraint with bumping; only a small minority actually bump several times a day and they're reminded of the proper etiquette pretty quickly.

The truth is that the Marketplace section moves fast; it's really easy for your thread to be pushed off the page within a coupe of hours and there's nothing wrong with bumping it back up as long as you do it once a day, maybe several times during the day if you're adding details or pictures etc.

As to organizing the marketplace, I don't see the point. A lot of people like to post multiple different items for sale within the same thread. Forcing them to split up the postings would just make it more clutter and harder to keep track of.

I don't see any problems with the way it's set up now. By dividing into categories, there will be problems with people selling "package" deals, as it will be difficult to know where to list them and even harder for potential buyers to find them. Advertisers will be forced to break everything to separate ads, which increases server load as well. I vote "no."

I'd go for a separate wtb section, otherwise I generally enjoy browsing. Would be nice if the search function worked better. Some sort of ability to add metatags would be really slick. Otherwise I 'd mirror Huy's comments.

The only problem I have with the marketplace, is how hard it is to find anything for sale if you're from the UK. I just had a look through, and gave up after a few pages!

If you could get scammers to post in a separate section, it would help a lot of us noobs out.

I'd love to see the marketplace broken up into sections, although probably not so many. I'd probably do:

WTB

WTS
- > Cameras
- > Accessories
- > Other

That way if you are only looking for a camera, you don't have to sift through dozens of offers to sell tripods, etc.

That made me laugh,

A dedicated scammers catagory.

And Twisted, thats what i meant, i may have gon a bit overboard in my OP but yes, that w s the general idea.

Either way would be alright. I'd say no because if you're searching for a tripod you can use the search option for say "Cartoni Focus Head" and then scroll and find those posted in the marketplace.
Organization would be really helpful but sometime the best deals come as packages.

I used to do a lot of PHP and MySQL programming a few years back and it would be no problem for me to get up to date again.

I'd quite happily build a marketplace section built around the forum. It would be a way of giving something back to the community.
