Some small questions on pricing and marketing a performing artist act.

Hi Guys,

There's this performing artist act which also involves a lot of equipment and does stage shows. In an effort to promote this show/act to event promoters and entertainment companies i designed a nice looking email newsletter styled promotion page which i will be sending to all event promoters by email. Now what i want to know is should i mention the show costs and pricing slabs on the newsletter itself ? This is because what happens is that we get a lot of low balling offers etc and want to stop that. Is it good marketing sense to say and explain, there's a fantastic show here and its going to cost you this much, so that people who know and are ok with that budget only call us back.

Advance thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Regards

Unless your price ladder is extremely complex, you should probably include the prices. Even then, you should include a "starting at" price.

Hi Finn,

No complex price slabs. Because its just one perfomer and his stage act. The act has a simple 3 slab structure. 30 min / 60 min / 90 min variants. The show theme persona etc is the same. Its a very unique type of show. As in just a handful of people doing it in the country here. I keep getting vague enquiries from people who dont even know what they want and they want me to do the problem solving and 'suggest' ideas of what can be done. Basically fishing for free suggestions when its actually his job as the event manager to take care of how to use it in his event. Also this act requires a specialized kind of equipment to be mobilized for the show. So these confused people keep asking for ideas and then run away when they hear the cost which wastes a lot of time here on my end.

So i thought if i mention the price slabs and send a publicity newsletter, maybe they will know the class and category of the event and what sort of budget we are talking and then proceed to contact me if they are in the same frequency. Do you feel mentioning the 3 basic slabs in our first introductory mail itself will be beneficial given the situation i explained ?

Thanks
