Some Feedback on my logo?

Hey guys,

I just finished up my logo/intro or whatever. Its 22 seconds long and its all original footage (well that water substance) taken with a Sony Handycam (1CCD) camera....you would never know though. It is good in full screen too.

Lemme know what you guys think I should add/take out/improve upon.

Thanks

Its kinda difficult to tell what the substance is at the beginning. Also, i'd frame the type up center frame at the end.

What will be the usage of this sequence?
It might be too long for 22 secs.
I would spend only 10 for duration and maybe a more dynamic entry for the logo itself. But then it depends on the mood of the intro you want to give.

The liquid substance that strobes is a Fluid. That's all you really need to know. It has no importance other than the fact that it ties in to the name of the logo. This is a clip that I will play before any of my future works...kinda like how dreamworks does the boy fishing on the moon and many other prodution companies have an intro to let you know who made it.

Ya we get what it's used for and the purpose, I think the constructive criticism is more aimed to make yours better to use in such a position. My original comment about the fluids at the beginning was more aimed at the fact that you can't really tell what's going on or even if there's something on screen (its too dark). If you're after a fluid, that's totally cool, just make sure the audience can dicipher what's going on enough to know they should be watching it. Abstract design is cool, just make sure its done well. I guess what i'm trying to say is I couldn't even tell it was a fluid (so I couldn't make the connection that it ties in with your logo...)

Help some?

I agree with Kyle. I didn't make the connection between the blue background and the logo. It seemed a bit random, like it was just put in because it looked cool. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And I'd like to see the logo centered. It gives me the impression that you will be making horror/mystery movies.

hmm. I thought it was smoke or mist at first, but as the logo began it's fade in, i could tell it was liquid. I like the placement of it, a liitle off center, and I like the logo design exending over the word liquid, helping to frame some negative space. I think it's a little too long, but that's it. I would say 10-14 seconds. If you tighten up the beginning, it will look like fluid faster, and mayhaps therein cause less confusion.

The audio doens't fit, and there is no "climax" to it or any buildup to when the logo reveals. I'de look for some atmosphereic/ambiance base with a secondary hum (with phaser/chorus or something) or sound for the reveal. It didn't "sound" liquid. I dunno, but i should sound like a lava lamp looks. The sound should "flow" or "ooze" (not to be cofused with an oozing sound), maybe enforced with some stereo widening, or an effect that spreads over the stereo field.

Thanks for your input guys. I have brightened the fluid up some so its a little more flourescent. As for the music that was the best I could find. I had to cut it from an already made piece. Thanks for your help guys

I think its totally sweet. I could defiently see big timer movies starting off with that. the ONLY thing that i would have done that would have been SUH-weet is make that white blob at the end aact as if it were a liquid that eventually filled up the background of the screen.

thanks swiper..I was actually thinking of doing that but I dont know how...Im not sure how to animate the "Liquify" filter to make it look good

A lava lamp motion production.

I like the darkness, but it definitely needed more definition.

You might think about introducing the type as part of the lava, and then having it more front and center.

It definitely needs more contrast, but the type also need to fit more organically with the lava.

The lava looks cool. Stick with that, but I would definitely tweak it more. Maybe add other layers to it from other shots of some other liquidly substance.

...hay, I'm being serious here, get your mind out of the.....

I like the idea, but I think that that the logo and the background should meld together better.

Try using the warp effect in AFX and animate it.

Otherwise, cool footage you have. You could probablly sell it as an abstract stock footage.

You know that there are bazillions (well 12 or so) composers trolling around DVXuser wanting to score people's short films for free to build their reels.

I agree that this should be shorter.

Having said that a 10 second logo would take some of these guys like .... well 10 seconds to score.

So surf around the herofest thread and you will find composers and probably one that would crank it out for you in nothing flat to ad a film company logo to their reel.

Den you gots your own original music homey
