Alright, these are the first pictures I've ever taken that hasn't been a point and shoot kind of picture. Please give me some constructive criticism on what works, what doesn't, too dark, too bright, anything.

Your pictures suck more than your crack whore mother. Get a clue and don't quit your day job.
I'm 16 and my day job is being a student. This is the first time I've ever taken pictures, and I asked for constructive criticism, not insults.

I read these boards a lot and I had a lot of respect for you John, you really just lost all my respect right now. It's not because you said this to me either, I think that conduct is wrong towards anybody by anyone on this board.

If anyone else would like to post some constructive criticism it'd be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit: Looking around the forums it does look like John's account was hacked and the previous comment wasn't made by him. John, I apologize for thinking it was you and I hope you solve this hacking problem.

Yeah, I don't have the money to buy a DSLR so I'm using a 35mm SLR. I scanned these at 1200 dpi, the highest quality on my scanner. I'm more worried about the composition, etc. than the quality of the digital image itself.

Thanks.

Look closer... there are 2 spaces between John and Hudson... and his name isn't yellow. That's not really him.

ernesto,

I dig the third one. but what do i know. somebody else might not like it. just take pictures if you're compelled to do it. then they'll be good. cause it will come from a place that doesn't need to be verified by other people.

do it cause you love to do it.

there are no wrong or right technical ways to do things. push the limits, think outside the lines. (especially with digital...hopefully you can afford one someday- they're really fun!)

but of course it's fine to just take regular pictures or regular people doing their regular lives. sometimes those are the best.

it's just good that you're doing it.

keep it up.

Some people are not people...

They sure look like film scans. I think your pictures have too dark areas and too bright areas, you should balance more the light in your compositions and from what i see from your question it's a fact you know.
