Some conformed files have no sound

Has anyone experienced a situation in Premiere Pro where you import a batch of video files and, after Premiere has conformed the audio on the files, the conformed files have no sound? It's happening to about a third of them.

I've checked the original files and they still have sound, so why does the mandatory up-converting/conforming of the audio seem to eliminate the sound on some of the clips within Premiere?

I'm currently working with hundreds of video files at the moment amounting to around 200GB so I don't want to have to start tricking around with them one file at a time. Any suggestions very gratefully received.

I've found that in 1.5 - if you're importing really long clips, or a whole bunch of them. Especially if you're doing anything else on the computer.

Best bet is to leave the computer alone while it's conforming. Easy fix is to unlink any files that don't have audio (select the option "media files remain on disk") and then relink them. This will cause Premiere to re-conform them.

Best solution to the whole conform problem: upgrade to 2.0!

Cheers,
Joe

Sorry

Sorry

Sorry to put a spanner in the works but this 'is' in Premiere Pro 2.0. However, it's really nice to know I'm not the only one. I've since deleted all the conformed audio and project files, started a brand new smaller project and only imported about fifty files. They all seem to have audio thank God. I'll just have to edit the film in smaller chunks. Many thanks for the info.

I haven't come across this in 2.0 yet - surprised and dismayed to hear it's still causing problems.

Did you try the unlink and relink trick?

Joe
