Some clips and questions

Hi Guys, i'm new here, name's MAX.

We recently compledted some projects and i'd like to share them with you, since this is one of the most interesting and active communities i've seen so far.

The clips are in the Video section of our website, www.bonsaininja.com

They were all shot with a PD-150 borrowed from our university Lab, but we think we got some good quality pictures.

Recently we were thinking about purchausing a camera.
I've read almost all the topics about XL2 and DVX100 so i will not ask about them again. I'd like the DVX, another guy the XL2, but i've not seen anything crucial for real comparison.
I mean, the specs are all there, the buzz too, but real footage vs. footage is missing..
I was hoping to find it in this sectrion but i found nothing..

If you could help pointing me to some clips i'd be grateful.

In the meantime just feel free to comment as you like the clips on our website.

Thanks and bye!

yeah that's where it all is.

looked at some of your vids. they all look slick, you guys are really good at animating & video effects

Thanks for the compliments ;)
taubkin: Well, i've seen that article before, and although the stills for comparison are there i wanted to see moving footage..
It's something that i haven't found in any forum i visited yet.

Well, i just want to give my shots a better base than PD-150, but at 3500$ it's not something we can buy without thinking.
And from what you could have guessed from our website we all know too well that a great deal of what is being called "film-look" can be achieved in post.

So then, how a new camera can improve our work? I mean, i don't really give a damn about what camera i own, the only thing that i need is quality shots.
Is buying a DVX something that can improve our footage a lot?
Dunno. Maybe, maybe not.. And before anyone says it, it's two months that i try to rent one but here in italy it's a lot harder to find things hehe.

I mean, after seeing works like this: www.pixelloft.com/riddle.htm i can't help but wondering how a new camera is really what we need. The Riddle was shot on a XL1 with a 35mm lens adapter (think a micro35). And heck everytime i look at that i get the chills.

Maybe we'd best go for the micro35 and some prime optics.

Well guys, i'd like your opinion on this..

Later.

Take a look at whatisbroken.com for a good example. I think those guys mixed good camera work with great post production. I am ordering the dvd as soon as its available even though its only a 15 minute short.

Seen That.
The short is nice, the post vfx and compositions are relly good..
But it has kind of a videoish look to it (maybe because of the directing style and the absence of a shallow DOF), and that's what i have now (actually i have more than that ^_^) with the PD-150.
And although the main actress seems to be quite good some of the other characters aren't as much beliveable as she is.
But that's a subjective matter, so...

Saw a project to make a good mini35 adapter in 20$, i'll give it a shot when i'll have the time.

It's just that i'm stuck in the infinite dilemma: "I want good looks but don't wanna shed the cash" ^_^

Comments anyone?
