I did a rendering speed test and got really strange results.
Software: Vegas Pro 10c 64bit on Windows 7 64bit.
Source: 60 sec clip 1080 24p ProRes
Render Parameters: mp4, Sony AVC, 10mbps, 1080 25p.
Systems:
1. Quad Core 2.66Ghz with Nvidia 240 1M DDR5 card
2. I7 950 overclocked to 3.7Ghz with Nvidia 460 1M card
I did two renders on each system, the second with "CPU Only"
Here are the results in seconds:
System | With GPU | Without GPU
1. 252 | 160
2. 221 | 100
So the better the graphic card, the more speed you can get by NOT using it.
rogar-Dum(DBG):
Now, there were no effects, no complications, just a simple encoding conversion. But still.
On the second system, I noticed onne thing that could explain it. With GPU acceleration on,
the render brough the load up to 25%, compared to 60% when it was disabled. As if the use of the GPU forced Vegas to use a single core.
Any thoughts?
