some basics...

I'm using premiere pro 1.5 for editing my video, its very user friendly and I haven't had any problems so far...
I just want to make sure that I'm doing things the right way, some of you guys are experts at this, I would really appreciate it if you can point out if I'm doing anything wrong, or if there is a better way of doing things.

I'm using the 24Pa shooting mode. When I set up for the project I use the following settings:

Editing mode: DV playback
Timebase: 23.976
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9)
Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
Display format 24 fps
Audio: Sample rate 32000 hz

What is the difference in using "DV Playback" or "video for windows"?
also, should I check the "optimize Stills" box?
thanks in advance guys :D

Come on guys any reply would be really apreciated!!

Re: some basics...

..your audio rate should be 48k.

dv playback uses codecs specificlly for DV rather than any codec available to an AVI.. use the DV playback whenever possible

.. i dont optimize stills but i do film stuff. if its for TV or DVD whatever then you may as well check it.

also if its checked..uncheck the box that says "recompress" in the project settings.. you never want to recompress unless you have to.

everything else looks good. :)
