Hi Everyone,
I'm a videographer who specialises in filming weddings, but this week, I've been asked to film a corporate dinner & this will be my first attempt.
All I know from the organisers is that the dinner is in a hotel ballroom & starts from 7:00pm & ends at midnight. They briefly mentioned that there will be many stage performances going on throughout the dinner & they mentioned something like the staff members of this corporation will be doing a series of drama/acting on stage & they'll be competing with each other for a prize of which team has the best acting, etc.
They mentioned that throughout, there will be some lucky draw prizes given out to the staff, & perhaps even some karaoke singing. I assume too that the company directors will be giving their speech.
This is what I know so far. Could anyone experienced in filming corporate dinners please advice on how to shoot the event, ie should I plunk my tripod & camera in just one strategic spot near the stage & just keep recording the entire event from beginning to end, or should I move around, compose my shots & then shoot, then reposition my camera somewhere else for another shot? From your experience, what are the pitfalls I should be looking out for when shooting such an event & should I just aim my camera at the stage performance only, or turn my camera towards the guests (sometimes) to shoot a few candid shots to add variety?
I'm the only one shooting the corporate dinner, so I wouldn't have the luxury of a second camera to take multiple shots. I'll be using the Sony FX-1E recording in Standard Def mode.
Much thanks in advance for your help & advice.
Andrew
