Solving the focus problem once and for all.

I would say use an IR laser since it wouldn't be visible, but IR lasers are more or less illegal for civilian use in the US.

In this day and age each actor should wear a decoy and the cameraman should just push a button to select the person that needs to be in focus.

In this day and age there should also be flying cars. Just because something should exist doesn't mean it can.
