Solutions for Storing Video Gear

Hi, all. Wasn't sure the best place to start this thread, so hopefully this is OK.

For years, I've been acquiring a variety of gear for video production... Cameras, lenses, cables, pelican cases, tripods, etc. I've finally decided to dedicate a small room for "storage". Currently, I'm planning to acquire some items like a pegboard, a shelving unit, etc. for efficient (and hopefully attractive) storage.

I was hoping some users could share their solutions for storing & organizing gear (C-stands, XLR cables, light stands, cases, etc.). I think there are some obvious solutions, as well as some ingenious ideas I haven't even considered. Descriptions and photos of gear in storage would be appreciated if anyone wanted to share. Thanks!

I like the Manfrotto 027 to hang smaller light stands on the wall. I don't trust my wall mounting skills enough to try C-stands on the thing, but it does a great job with smaller stands!

I store all of my pelican cases and some tripods using these inside my van.

I use the larger hooks that come out fartehr from the wall but it allows me to hang pelicans and lay tripods or stands across the top.

I use bungee cords to secure everything while traveling.

Gimme a day or so and I will post pics of my buddy's setup. Big pvc pipe sections for tripod holders, pegboard, custom cabinets, industrial shelving- it's pretty tricked out.

For lenses I've got a cheap clear plastic box, with a clip lip (just a standard storage box) and put one of those car/caravan 'non drip' dehumidifiers and a garden potting moisture monitors in there to monitor and keep the damp away from my lenses.

A few years back I wasn't so clever and lost 3 lenses to fungus.

I have a single, small storage room. I bought some metal cabinets from a used office furniture store for $500. Those cabinets swallowed up a lot of clutter. I added some small cases inside one cabinet for organizing lots of little items.

On the shelves are my dSLRs, bridge cameras, HDMI, SDI, and other stuff. In the drawers below the cabinets, I have whatever lenses aren't in some transport bag/case already, plus my archival project media (HDV tapes, hard drives and master DVDs). In a bottom drawer I've got mostly some camera support items/accessories

I have three pelican cases. One large one for the FS7, two 1510 cases; one for action cameras and all their mouting accessories, plus some extra audio equipment which is mostly 16ft XLR cables and gaffer tape. Another 1510 holds my XF305. A few other loose cases hold monitors and a surround sound mic (Holophone Mini).

Before I got the cabinets, I had to make a trail through that room because stuff was just stacked everywhere. I keep some tripods and my Kessler Cineslider and Pocket Jib in the closet. In the Craftsman cabinet, the bottom drawer is chock full of mostly stuff for the Cineslider (Oricle controller, motor, battery pack, high hat, Manfrotto head, lots of wires!). My audio gear has suddenly outgrown the Craftsman tool chest inside the cabinet. I have the F8 Zoom Recorder, which sits in its bag with headphones, cables, mics. I'm thinking about getting another 1510 to hold all my audio gear during transport to the shoot.

Sorry about the huge photos! I'll make them smaller next time.

Mark

I put little silica packets in each case. I see people doing various things. I havent had a fungus yet in more than 13 years thankfully but what is the best practice? I certainly don't want to have a problem.
