Hi Everyone.
I thought I'd post a solution I just learned to a seemingly simple problem.
Every time I tried to bring in certain audio files into the timeline of a Premiere Pro CS3 project, the audio would create a new track (Audio 4).
I could never put it into Audio track 1, 2 or 3
The reason for this I discovered is that the audio files I was trying to bring in were "Mono" and the project audio settings are "Stereo".
Premiere won't allow you to put mono and stereo audio files on the same track.
The solution? Highlight the audio file in the project window (before you bring it into the timeline.
Go to Clip / Audio Options / Source Channel Mapping
Select "Mono as Stereo" under track format.
Bingo, you can now put mono and stereo files on the same track.
I hope this is helpful to anyone who's experienced this same problem.
Best.
Peter
