soloing track loses rendering

Hi. Everytime I solo a track, I lose my render files for everything else and have to re-render. Is this right or am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to focus on a specific track without losing all that rendering?

thanks

That is correct- renders are normally when all tracks visible at once. Soloing a track will wipe out any renders that don't feature only that track.

I believe that sometimes you undo a change like this as long as you dont make any other changes and you will get your rendered files back.

I'd recommend dialing up your RT settings- switch to Dynamic if you're on FCP 5 or Unlimited if you're in 4.

I'm using fcp 4.5 and my project has severals layers with keyed footage. Sometimes I need to just focus in on one layer to fine tune the matte. It seems weird there's no way to do it without having to rerender my whole timeline? Undoing will bring back the render files, but it also undoes my fine tuning. thanks.

In that case, I'd recommend fading down the clip(s) to 0% directly above the layer you want to adjust rather than soloing. Soloing effects everything on the timline rather than just the section you're working on.
