I just saw this on BBC 1 last night for the first time. I mean i was amazed, shocked and flabbergasted. The plight of the poor native americans. Before this i was used to seeing cowboys and injuns, of course i've read up on my history about the matter(a peoples history of the united states - howard zinn)but nothing prepared me for the brutality of this film. Yes, the cheyennes were violent, but who made them so? Yes, the film had its flaws, it looks like a hippy love story, good cinematography(make sure you watch the widescreen version) and make sure you watch the uncut version as well. It's very amusing that this is not available in the U.S. I wonder if all the Europeans ban all of the movies about their imperialist atrocities?
