Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to charge my DVX's batteries, using solar power. I'm going on a "wilderness adventure" and won't be near an outlet or cigarette lighter for atleast a week. If you have any ideas or links please let me know. Also if anyone has any ideas on what best to shoot a 3 month paddling trip with let me know too.

Thanks!!

How many batteries do you have for your DVX .. if they're big enough buying one or 2 more might be *easier* to manage than a solar charger. You don't have to worry about setting it up while on the move and hoping for sunny days.

Maybe a Canon 7D might be even better to manage.
Cheers.

Or worse. I used to shoot with a DVX and the battery life is much better then what I got with a 7D. I would stock up on the big DVX batteries and charge them all before going, and I'd try to use the lcd screen less to conserve battery time. I haven't used and don't know about solar chargers.

Thanks so much for the advice. Does anyone know approximately how long dvx batteries hold a charge if not being used?

When OEM Li-ion batteries are new they have to be fully charged and run almost flat a number of times before they can hold a full rated charge. Then they'll hold a full charge for at least a few months provided they're stored in a medium stable temperature.

Low cost batteries off Ebay .. good luck.

Cool :) Thinking about your 3 month trip .. I'd take a battery charger like Alex's they'll be times when you stop in for provisions and stay overnight.
