Softweigh Track Dolly

Has anyone built the "MULTI-PURPOSE RAIL TRACK DOLLY" on Softweigh.com?

Just wondering if this thing is worth building. Does anyone has any test footage or some comments on this rig? I got the link from the Hollywood Camera Work's recommended dolly listings. It will be for an HVX, just the cam with no rails, 35mm adaptor etc.

To be honest, i'd be worried about the weight. The camera in the pic is pretty small and even without rails or an adapter, the HVX has got to weight quite a bit more than the one in the pic.

As far as the jib itself I'd also be worried about the main arms. Looks to me almost like 3/4" electrical conduit. While it might not break under the weight of an HVX, it's quite possible it'd flex.

I would suggest making the tower as wide as the base for stability, and perhaps adding some weight to the bottom (ofr fill the tubes halfway with sand) to lower the center of gravity.
