I need help from some experienced DIT's/Data Wranglers out there. Sorry if this is a bit convoluted:
I'm going to be data-wrangling a RED Epic shoot. What I would like to do is make a fast copy from the RedMag SSD to the internal SSD on a Mac Book Pro. The moment that is done, I would like the computer to automatically copy the fresh new data from the internal SSD to two External hard drives (not SSD's), connected via either Thunderbolt or USB 3. While that happens, I would review the new data with checksum software.
This would allow me to put the RedMag back into rotation much quicker than if I were to copy directly from the RED card reader to the slower external drives - and would save me some very dull minutes looking at a progress bar, since I don't have to wait by the computer for the RedMag to clear.
I know for a fact that this workflow is possible (know of a DIT who works like this), but I don't know what software allows me to do it - what program will copy from one drive to another, then use the latter drive to make an automatic third copy?
