Softie Mount vs Shock Mount ?

Hello. Was wondering what performance difference there is between using a Softe Mount vs Shock Mount?

Can I get reasonable vibration reduction with a softie mount? If not, what is their primary purpose?

with the pistol grip you can get handling noise translated thought the pole to the Mic . With the shock mount it will minimize the handling noise from the boom operator. Also the amount of wind protection depends on your production situation are you outside? if so it is better to be safe than sorry but what if you are in side you dont need to worry as much.

Ok, so there will be significant handling noise using the softie mount then. That's what I was afraid of.
