Soft/Sharp Focus...potentially a render issue?

Hello...

This is the video clip in question:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZyB2R2lYn8

I'm guessing this is a rendering issue. The raw video does not have the same problem...the problem (besides the semi-questionable audio, which I know how to fix, more or less) is this: you'll notice the sharp, then soft focus throughout the video (which is most apparent when viewing the gravel and shirt)...it was rendered as "Main Concept AAC/AVC (.mp4)", also the video is significantly less sharp than the raw video (I do understand that there will be some level of quality loss, no?)...but how should I go about fixing this most obvious flaw?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks David...but I failed to mention, that I'm currently dealing with an issue where it is necessary for me to capture my raw video to my laptop (which runs Vegas 6...my desktop is having an issue with the dv card - which runs Vegas 8), and then transfer it via gspace...with the exception of transferring the entire raw file , I would like to cut the video just down to the pieces I want and then transfer it that way, without having to render...is this possible?

So basically, I don't want to render it twice, which seems to significantly reduce the quality...if rendering twice is my only option in this circumstance, what might be the best way to go about this?

This is for a youtube project.

Thanks All!

If you're just rendering back to DV, there's no recompression, so the files will be the same. That is, as long as you don't do anything to the clips other than trim them.

You can also "Save As" and choose "Save trimmed media copies," and then Vegas will automatically save the clips according to the trims you made.

In any case, instead of having to use Gspace, you could use an external hard drive or network your computers together and transfer the files that way.

However you do it, you should be dealing with the exact original quality of the clips.

David, I don't see the "save trimmed media copies" option in either versions of Vegas...I did my due diligence by searching this forum and googling it, and came up with nothing...

I'll be merely cutting the clips on my laptop, then transferring them to my desktop to do the editing there.

?

thanks
