Soft light from LEDs?

Is there an easy way to achieve soft light from LED panels? Let's say something like a 1x1 Litepanel or CN600. I've experimented with using round reflectors and diffuser panels but I'd like to hear others solutions.

Cool Lights sell a soft box accessory for their LED Lights, don't know how well it works but here it is:

Any light can be made soft, it just depends on what strength you want and what quality of softness. You can either bounce it off a surface or push it through diffusing material.

The larger the panel, and the closer to the subject, the softer it will be.

If you want a quick and dirt cheap solution, throw a piece of baking paper on it.

I've looked into cool lights, and actually wanted to buy them, but they aren't available for several months and I need something for a production soon. I may try to get some nylon ripstop and sew together some custom soft boxes.
