Soft Cases for the DV100A

What soft cases are people liking these days?

I have a pelican case but I'm thinking of going to a softie for the DVX100 with a shotgun mic and a matte box. I'm looking at the Kata CCC-10 or the EXO 33.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks.

I just bought the CCC-10 from EVS. I really like it. I use a Cavision Mattebox. I wanted to leave the DVX intact with Mattebox and mic, ready to pop out and go to work immediately. This allows that (except the french flag must be leff off because it is too wide). It also looks like I can flip over the Varizoom monitor and leave it on the light shoe of the cam as well. The CCC-10 has about 1/2 inch padded walls and has some structure to it. The compartment bulkheads can be moved about. I like it and recommend it. I have never seen the EXO 33.

What I didn't like was the $90.00 shipping fee (because of the size) and the fact that Canada Customs charged me $102.00 for taxes etc. But you pay for what you want, eh? :-)

Sears tool bag. $24.95, and use the styro insert from your camera box to give it structure for your cam. 100 pockets, cheap and easy.

Yeah i know I could go cheaper and make it work but I'm looking for something durable and compartmentalized to travel with abroad. $200 for a durable sturdy and well designed bag is worth it for me.

I have filters and accessories that I would like to fit into the bag as well. It is much easier to work out of if the bag is well designed. Anyone else have any of these bags??

Thanks.

Petrol makes great bags. I bought the PDB-1, and it was everything I hoped for and bigger than it looked on their site. Room for camera, matttbox and goodies. Interior is very soft -durable material that will be kind to your gear.
I think I found it on BHphoto.com for +_$139.

Cinebags look very cool for another $50.

Panasonic also makes a soft bag . My dealer ordered the wrong one for a customer in and he gave me a nice discount on the bag .

I guess my criteria, looking at these bags online, is to find a durable bag with good protective padding and which can be worked out of in run and gun doc work. That means good compartmentalization for easy access to accessories. As well as the ability to have the camera fully built in the bag with the 2 stage matte box and a shotgun mic on board. I also carry additional batts (7), additional chargers (2), 4x4 filters, a small LCD monitor, tapes, cables etc...

Here is the Cinebags bag, has that space and then some:

One of the best drop-in bags for Mattebox work is the Portabrace DVO2CRU:

That has space for all the items you mentioned, due to the included partition system that sits under the camera. It also has a rigid outer wall.

The DVO1 version is Airline legal, but lacks the outer pocket.

Also the KTMC61's picture on the Kata website shows it with a Mattebox:

Goto the "Roomy" tab

Here it is on our site as well:

The Petrol PCCB-2N is big enough for all those features too, if you're creative with the accessories:
