hi,

I just bought a dvx last week, and am looking for a soft carrying case, that I can take as a carry on, on a plane. I think I've narrowed it down to 2 and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with either of these bags or know of something cheaper/better

Im looking at either the kata mc-60

or the kata panda-402

advice?

Hey kwyjibo07~

I think both of those bags look great. I guess it really comes down to how you want to carry it around. If you're doing a ton of walking w/it, then the backpack version would probably be the best.

I just bought the Kata mc-61 which is just like the 60... here's how a rep. describes the difference between the 60 & 61:

"The MC-60 and MC-61's main difference is in regards to Video equipment, if using a camcorder with a mattbox then the MC-61 features an upgraded full top opening which provides easier access, also the bottom shelf and dividers are more rigid to provide additional support for the heavier video equipment."

"However in all other respects, size capacity and design features the cases are identical."

I travel so much, that the 61 makes more sense for me than a backpack style bag. But, if I were hiking around with my gear, the backpack would be my choice.

Good luck~

I posted a similar thread and it's good to read the feedback you got. I went to B&H and they were definitely recommending the MC60. My biggest question is that it is not the typical camera bag shape and I wonder how comfy it is to carry over the shoulder. It has a pocket for a laptop, but I can't imagine putting my laptop and camera in the same bag. Hmmm. I am still debating btwn Kata, Petrol and Porta Brace.

I really wish Booq would make camera back packs. Their laptop back packs are awesome.

I bought the Kata Panda, and it is great thus far. Holds the cam and a ton of accessories with no problem. The backpack straps are also nice, and are comfortable as well. It is one tricked out camera bag.
