Soft Audio Export - HELP!

Trying to export my film edited in FCP4 out to tape and having an issue with the audio levels. (I realize I should be using a deck, but it is an emergency situation w/ no deck available). The levels the DVX is recording are only about half as loud as they should be. When we burn straight to DVD from the computer, the levels are fine...

HELP!! Any suggestions?

What are the audio readings in FCP?How are you comparing audio levels of a burned DVD with the tape output? Are you then playing back from the VX into the same TV with the same audio settings? Is the volume turned up?
