so, you know how all that new star wars stuff looks fake?

Forrest Gump is an exellent example of CGI supplementing the story but not taking it over... I would say the beastie boys like their sugar with coffee and cream.

Well if I've got to keep it goin, I keep it goin full steam. Too sweet to be sour, too nice to be mean.

I'm currently watching all the Star Wars films in order (currently at #5), and the jump between 3 and 4 is vast -- like a completely different series. Lucas failed in his attempt to blend those stories together.

I don't have a problem with CGI -- even films done almost completely as SW 1-3 as long as it supports the story. The problem with movies nowadays is that they try to "wow" you with CG or effects, but it ends up detracting from the story.

What makes the original Star Wars great is that they were working against massive limitations, and used effects only where they could get away with it. The end result was that except for a few shots, the effects blended perfectly with the story.

All in all though, I prefer CG animation to claymation -- the animations in "The Empire Strikes Back" look ridiculous. I think the blend of motion-control models and CGI looks perfect.
