So what is the difference between a 35mm and 128mm lens?

I need a simple idiot's guide to lens. I'm going to be shooting my first short and I'm not sure which lens to use. It's pretty much a walking monologue but I want as much of the NYC skyline in the shot as possible. What kind of lens would I need to achieve this?

We're using an HVX-200.

You want a lense with a shorter focal length for a wider field of view. So a 28mm would work.
