So What Has Doc Been up to?

Yep.........shameless self promotion thread. In this industry.....it's promote or perish.

So, as many of you know, I approach the industry with a multi-faceted attack plan. Weapons, Sound, Marketing, and on a rare occasion....acting. And I have a blast doing it. I gave up my day job to do this. Of course it wasn't of my own choice, I was laid off from my job as the Chief Audio Engineer from a microphone company and had to find a "fall-back".

So recently.......worked on a web-series as on-set sound recordist "Pairings" currently has 551,528 views on KoldKast.TV (in less than a month, I might add)

Just finished a 3 day engagement on a USC Master's Thesis Project as armorer and featured BG. I have fun acting.....but I always question my abilities in that aspect......

Upcoming.....I am going to be working at a "sensitive facility" providing weapons for a project. My security clearance from "way back when" helped me get this gig. Portions of it are being re-newed for it.

And I am helping another DVXUser member in their period short......doing a bit of sound design.

Then there is the web-series "Black", another project I am proud to be involved in. Has actual operators and war-fighters making sure things are extremely accurate according to what they know and have done.

LOL, this is only half of what's going on right now.....There is Cowtown Studios, Wrapal, and a couple more things in the works.

I get tired just keeping up with what your doing. Every day it's something different. It's Go, Go, Go. You can't beat that. Congrats Doc. A bit of an inspiration really.

 No disagreement there, Stephen. And I love my job/jobs....... and now not constrained to not share to the world.

And get this.....it's not about who I am or what I do. It's about: If you really have a dream (which I do) if you chase it long enough and make decisions accordingly......you can at least make some headway. I bust my rear-end, take meetings almost everyday, talk to people, help promote those projects I have been involved in. If I can do it as a non-filmschool hack and non-camera owning schlep.....just think what those with the resources I don't have, what can be on their future horizons, if they apply themselves.

If you want to make a success of this biz....you must be ready for the heartaches and successes. I am nowhere near where I want to be.....but "eyes on the prize"......

Gord......I have tried to share my life philosophy, such as it was, to a couple members because I saw something in them. But my voice......is the same as everyone else's on the internet. I have no issue with that. Advice freely given.....can be freely rejected.

If I could even give one person the slightest bit of inspiration.....then I find my efforts to have been worth the time I took to share them. Accept those periods of "bleakness" but use that as a reason to redouble your efforts.
