So what about the results of NAB?

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

The exhibits don't open until Monday morning, which is about 36 hours away (for those in differing time zones, on the other side of the international date line, etc).

You can find out what Sony's up to at their NAB site:

Panasonic's press room is at:

Canon (think they'll announce anything?) is at:

JVC posts its press at:
http://pro.jvc.com/prof/pr.jsp

They also offer a virtual tour of their NAB booth at:

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

Oh, I'll be sure to write in JUST AS SOON AS IT'S ANNOUNCED.

So check back here some time in 2005 for the update...

;D

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

Xl2... September not Now.

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

September for the announcement, 2005 for wide delivery... and it will not be DV, it'll be HDV...

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

If Canon follows JVC's HDV price range, it's going to be really too damn expensive for a DVXuser like me ! ;D

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

It depends.. 16x9 native and a flipout LCD will make it pretty interesting, but personally Im not sold on the HDV spec.

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

What I should have said is...

I will be interested in learning of every camera manufacturer's offerings.  ;)

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

I've been hoping to see somthing big from Avid... again.
Looks like I'll be disappointed ...again.
Good to see apple on the ball though.

Re: So what about the results of NAB?

Sony's new introductions are now posted at:
http://news.sel.sony.com/pressrelease/4673

They introduced a new "entry-level" HD camera. $48,000. Note, this is HDCAM, not HDV. The only press release about HDV said "we'll be announcing our plans for HDV", so no product introductions are on the site.

They also announced Vegas 5 with DVD Architect 2:
http://news.sel.sony.com/pressrelease/4607

Besides the other upgrades, it looks like Vegas 5 will include a lite version of Boris Graffiti, and a version of Magic Bullet Movie Looks plug-in.

JVC is announcing a prototype of a professional ENG-style 24P HDV 3CCD cam:
http://pro.jvc.com/prof/Attributes/press_res.jsp?tree=&model_id=MDL101476&itempath=&feature_id=08

No details of any significance (other than 2/3" CCD's, 1920x1080 native res, support for 1080i and 720p plus SD), and it's only a prototype so who knows what it'll cost or when it may be available, but it's a quite exciting announcement...

Canon finally announced the XL2, and it looks like a real winner: 24P, native 16:9 CCD's, and much better audio:
http://www.canondv.com/XL2/youdidn'tfallforthis,did you?.html

Haven't seen any news from Panasonic yet.
