Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you wasted your money. Forget about buying something to mount on the camera - honestly, you might as well just use the internal mic - it'll sound about the same.

Look at the stickies at the top of the forum - you will see a basic audio package that will be a good investment for you.

okay well I got the idea that the mic sucks and will be pretty useless. but what if for now I put it on the end of a boom stick until I get a better one? At lease then it will be closer and above the actors then the on camera mic.

That'll definitely give you far better results than camera mounting the thing. That mic up close will sound better than an expensive mic across the room.
 
It only works with a Sony hot shoe. There is no way you could use it on a boom and it doesn't fit your Panasonic either.
 
no way... That sounds like a challange. Well it arrives tomorrow. I shall put your no way comment to the test.
