So....Getting back into Sound Design.

I figured I needed to shake the rust off the brain and my sound gear. And was asked to help out on a fellow DVX-er's project.

So I spent today practicing and getting my chops back (to some extent) after the gear was all working happily together........

This is what I came up with for a project in the future (not shot yet.....but a good way to start).

LOL, I know....this is a rough mix, need to add more stuff to match as I envision how it is going to be shot (I am shooting it) and it ends way too abruptly. Just Sound FX and music stem, no dialogue yet.

Music is by: 13 to the Gallows and I have the rights to use this music.

The crows and the dog didn't sit in the mix very well. Other than that it was great. The crows I'd manipulate so their calls are in sync with and accentuating the music, vary the volume and make it more call and response natural (crows are communicating not just making a racket). Maybe less is more? The dog didn't sound very natural either, more variety of samples, quieter, and with some reverb added to match everything else. Consider that the dog is communicating and mix it according to what he's saying. I realise it's a rough edit. The music totally matched the moods you were trying to set and I could picture the scene you were painting and the other sound effects sat well with it. Just the animals stuck out like, well, the dog's proverbials.

Yeah....lots more to do on it.....I just knocked this together in 2 hours. LOL, encoding this and uploading it took longer.

yes, sir.

Wanting a Sergio Leone feel for the Western Show-me Reel.

On a side note..........I just scored the rights to use "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult for the Iraqi Village Show-me Reel. Going to be full on Combat scene
