Im sure I can use my curent editing setup to edit HDV but...

Can I use Premiere Pro to edit DVCPRO-HD footage or do I have to get another editing program?

What about my 3ghz computer with 1gb of ram... Is it going to be powerful enough to do the job?

Currently, only Final Cut Pro 5 (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro), Avid Xpress Pro HD (http://avid.com/products/xpressprohd) and Canopus EDIUS NX with the Codec Option Pack (http://www.canopus.us/US/products/EDIUSNX_for_HDV/pa_EDIUSNX_Options.asp) can be used to edit DVCPRO-HD footage.

Adobe has promised DVCPRO support for Premiere Pro 2.0. Let's see if they deliver.

Sony Vegas 6c has now support for .MXF files (http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/releasenotes/vegas60c_readme.htm) but they only support the sony XDCAM codec at this time and I am not sure if they really want to support the "enemy's" codec at all. Which is a pitty, because I prefer Vegas over all other applications mentioned here.

thanks. Are you sure it will be Premiere Pro 2.0 or will it be Premiere Pro 1.6 or something? Are they planning a new major upgrade soon?

There have been a number of references to Premiere Pro and a new "version" but nothing "official" as of yet. Support for the HVX and DVCPro-HD is something that is a major consideration for myself and a lot of Premiere users. I am in the wait and see mode now, but will make the switch to Avid if Adobe fails to deliver a solution in time for the HVX's launch.
