Snow White and the Hunstman

guess i was the only one (and my girlfriend and fellow director) that thought Theron's acting was over the top. It started off excellent but it was pretty apparent sometime into the film that she'd keep at that over the top level and and not provide much range elsewhere.

Overall the film was OK. thought more could have been done with the story though. Was a bit disappointing.

OK...just saw it. I take back what I said about Kristen Stewart. She cleans up pretty well. But Charlize Theron...she did a good job in her role. The movie wasn't the greatest fairy tale in the world...but it was enjoyable. The kids loved it.

I liked the film, and don't mind 'playing' with classic fairytales, as these were once 'organic' stories that changed and adapted for the given time of the teller... That said, I think it would have been a stronger psychological movie had the Queen been the mother, and not a step-mother.

I don't know if that would have bumped the rating to R rather than PG-13... but I think it is territory that has not been well explored in fantasy films, because the Grimms shifted the relationship in their later editions of a number of stories.

Just saw it. I read a few review synopses on RottenTomatoes and agree with about half of them that almost uniformly lauded the visuals and were critical of the acting. For my part, Kristen Stewart inhibits suspension of disbelief.

Kristen Stewart = female Shia LaBeouf?

The visual effects and visual feel on the other hand were very robust, seemingly on par with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
