Anybody see this new flick from David Gordon Green yet? I went last night.

I thought it was just great - he is one of my favorite young filmmakers. It really pulls all the heartstrings, much in the same way that "All the Real Girls" does. Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell are outstanding. The younger actors were great as well; the girl is also the best friend in "Juno."

That said, there a two or three scenes that seemed totally uneven to me and threw me off a little bit. Also, Amy Sedaris was just totally out of place. I love her, but this heavy drama didn't work for her. I applaud the out-of-the-box casting though even if it didn't quite work out.

next thursday, im seeing it... with david gordon green in attendance. i'll post about it here next week.

Zak - if you have a chance to talk to him, tell him Will Clegg says hello. I know him from back in the day in NC - he's a great guy.

I just saw this in San Luis Obispo at the Palm (the word's first solar-powered theater! according to them) and I must say, it was excellent. There was this obnoxious old lady sitting next to me who kept laughing at all the really serious bits...until the end. A few people were giggling throughout. They were dead silent until the end. Really engaging piece. Great performances, great cinematography. Definitely Green's best work to date.

can't believe i never posted in here after seeing it... i was kind of bummed... didn't feel like it came together. i don't know... i was disappointed... and this is coming from a huge fan of green's work. felt like the work of a first-timer, like a step backwards for him by delving into obvious cliches. thought george washington and all the real girls were far superior and much more original and authentic.

i was on set for pineapple express. looking forward to it.
