Sniper mask.

I recently saw some really cool footage of a sniper mask (POV through the scope). The best way I could figure out how to make one is by shooting the footage of the mark, and then dropping a mask that was created in Photoshop on the footage. Am I right? Is there a better way? I am posting this in here and not in the SFX section because I use adobe and want adobe advice. ;D

Re: Sniper mask.

that way would work fine. i would personally either actually shoot the footage through a scope attacjed to the camera and mask out the area outside the view, or i would shoot a small snippit through a scope viewing a green screen then create a mask to block to out around the scope, and shoot the scene clean, and then use the scope shot to key in the action.

.. the only reason i would shoot through the sscope live is because when your looking through a scope you normally get a number of flares and refractions as you vary your angle to the lightscource(generally the sun).. including these in the image would make it look very realistic instead of it obviosly bing a mask layover that has no organic feel to it.
