Hello- Normally I am not worried about text appearing smooth on my screen because I know it will smooth out once I output to MPEG-2 or any H.264 file, but this is a somewhat different headscratcher.
I am creating livestreams using BoinxTV to Ustream, and using CamTwist as an intermediary. Basically, that means that Ustream picks up any video on my desktop, and how it looks. Therefore, if I have a QT file with jaggy text in it, then jaggy text will appear on my Ustream show.
We recently had a little technical blunder with one of our ads, so I took the recorded output from BoinxTV (recorded in Apple Intermediate Codec), which looked really nice and smooth when played in Quicktime. It looks exactly how text should look, nice and smooth.
I then imported this file into FCP so I could edit it. First, when imported to the FCP project bin and played in FCP, the text goes jaggy, even at 100% in the viewer. So everything I do from here on in has that jaggy text, even when I export it to an H.264 file or MPEG-4!
You have to understand, this is even before I put the video into a sequence! The sequence is matching the clip (Apple Intermediate Codec), this is FCS 3 (FCP 7) when I add it to a new sequence. Upon export, no matter what I go to I end up with jaggy text and crappy video. I have even gone into QuickTime player to adjust any little preferences I could find.
I'm going to try converting the original file to ProRes, but does anyone else have ideas?
Thanks!
