Smoothing out backgrounds in AE

Whenever i create a background layer in AE, then go to effect>generate>ramp it looks nice in AE, but when I export it looks like multiple circles of different shades instead of a smooth ramp effect.

Example here: mainly at 36 seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glkmeZ5BERg&hd=1

It cant all be an exporting problem, when i do the same effect in photoshop and import that as the background it comes out much smoother than creating the background in Ae, although its still not perfect.

I am using the same sequence settings and everything is square pixels and I dont know what else to double check. I am also exporting with the lossless setting. Any other ideas or suggestions to fix this problem?

Thanks!

try to put in a little noise

or switch to a software that allows 32bit colourdepth ;)

its a know problem with AF, motion etcetera

awesome thanks, didnt realize this was a common problem, i havent seen it much in other videos... So would it work better to create the background in photoshop or would the same problem occur? I have also noticed it works better to put a vignette over the image instead of using the ramp effect.

Thanks for the help!

THANKS! Great tutorial although I was hoping this issue would be easily fixed completely, but at least now I know some things to try
