I often shoot wedding videos at a high end island resort off the Florida Keys. I use a DVX100a, Sennheiser Me66 and a furry windscreen and a Frezzi dimable, on camera light. Also mounted on the camera is a Sennheiser wireless receiver. I also have a Sony wide angle adpater on the lens. To stableize the camera, I use a monopod with a mini rover handle and a belt mounted Bogen pouch to hold the bottom of the monopod. It all works pretty well together.
Most events are 1 to 2 hours. The video features the couple in an island walk around with occasional pauses while the photographer shoots stills, the beach side ceremony, about 20 minutes in length, and a beachside reception with cake cutting and toasts and sunset pictures. All in all, it's not stop hand held run and gun shooting in a hot, humid environment.
I need a better camera support system and I don't have the option of using a tripod as there are too many locations and no time for setup.
Is the Smooth Shooter and Glidecam 4000 and option for this? How will it perform with some wind? Can it support the DVX100a, the light, mic and receiver, etc.? Can it be worn for a long period such a wedding and reception without fatigue?
Any information or thoughts about the smooth shooter and Glidecam 4000 or other options will be very appreciated as due to my location, I have no way to get a hands on demo. Thanks, Craig Hollenback
