I think you just made me change my mind, your were not having a bad day, i gave you the benefit of the doubt, i guess your always like that.

Cheers for your awesome advise, your obviously an expert and who am i to expect a intelligent response to a very lame question.

Keep up the good work CaptM

PS, be careful not to get them white glove dirty when you shove your lame answer up your own brown pit.

BROWN PIT!!!

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

Sometimes people who lurk around here forget that this is a place for learning. I wonder why some of these guys hang around and cut people down. If they are such experts, why aren't they spending their precious time making money? Why waste time slumming and putting noobs down on the internet?

I am a self-proclaimed hack... honest. I've always been upfront about it.

Problem is when people think they are professional just because they shoot skater videos.

Learning is one thing. That's why I answered.

Cutting people down FIRST is another -- that's why Bren is low life scum hack crap.

But that's just my opinion.

Alright, chill out people. How old are we really?

And online none-the-less? I don't care who you are. This is ridiculous. And unfortunately it is something inherent on this forum. Everyone thinks they are the **** and advice (friendly) is hard to come by. No one can break from their egos - even though they are basically non - existent especially online.

That said, there is only a certain amount editing can do. You might consider breaking up the shot with cuts and using insert shots.

You might be able to stabilize it in After Effects manually. Unless of course the footage is very shaky then you have to live with it.

Wow...

Maybe someone should just lock this thing?
All of you guys should honestly be ashamed of yourselves.

And to the original poster. Figure it out...SmoothCam works wonders on minor shakes. If it is distorting - I would hate to see the master.

pretty good, please post a link to some of your work and impress us all, and maybe we could meet up and you could say that too my face :) perhaps over a candle lit dinner, some wine, relaxing music....

Well, CapM should be, but i think my original question was quite justified, asking why an FCP filter distorts footage and if anything can be done about it, is a normal post on a FCP forum.

When i get round to it i may get the energy to post both the original and edited footage, it was not shaking that crazy. and incase you did read all the post on this thread i was in a GOD DAM HELICOPTER!!!!! i was only allowed to take the camera and myself, i do own a fig rig and other pieces of hardware that could have done a better job of stabilizing the shot but i have to leave it to my good old biceps.

I was trying to kill this thread after some very helpful people did answer my question (thanks guy) as you can see by my posts but good old CapM have to keep putting in his 2cents. pretty pathetic really, and i would bet my life that he will do the same to this post. Go away and spread your useless banter on another forum, I have been posting here for a while and have never encountered anything like this.

CapM's original post would have only help me if i owned a time machine and unfortunately the only one i have is out on load right now.

Now can admin please lock this thread.

Cheers:)

Your lack of spelling abilities show your IQ too.

I'm MORE than happy to spend dinner with you.

It is people like you that think plugins is the answer to everything... ugh... there's no single cure for problems. Look... my answer answered your question. Garbage in - garbage out. Turnip Soup/Lemonade.

I'm not here to impress you. I'm here to answer your question. I don't give a rats if you shoot major features or home movies, understand? If you have bad footage you are going to at BEST have slightly less bad footage.

You should have done some homework on smoothcam anyway. Do you even know how it works? Do you know what happens when smooth cam distorts the video to 'fix' it? Why don't you? You think this should just WORK when you want? Shoot me some video and I'll run it thru Shake where I have more control over the smoothcam node and I'll even run it thru AE for you.

funny...... now you try to help.

Now can admin please lock this thread.

and maybe ban CapM at the same time, if someone comes to a place for learning they should defiantly not be insulted no matter how stupid the question might be. I hope admin read this thread.

Good riddance, I say. People who can't do a little leg work on their own shouldn't be playing with their daddy's toys.

Pros look past tone to find the lesson. If someone offering you good advice with a dose of sarcasm is too much for you, then you will have a hard time learning to play in the bigs.

You don't have to like the delivery, but the lesson is valid. Thick skin=longevity. Easily offended people tend not to get very far.

(The Sarcasm was overboard on this thread though - wasn't much of a dose... more like I delivered with one of my F-16s)

Thanks for noticing. Yes - lowlifehack was a bit overboard too.

At the risk of aggravating this thread the helicopter bit doesn't really help your case. I do a LOT of field recording. You apparently did no prep for this shoot. You didn't get permission to bring the equipment you needed to get the shots you needed. I'm sort of assuming you were gorillaing the shot. If you are up front about this kind of stuff people will react more appropriately. You stole a shot and so really couldn't do it properly, OK, don't get huffy like you shot it all properly and start act like FCP has a problem because it cant fix your footage. For instance when Capt. responded with the tripod, you could have explained the stolen shot that you are trying to salvage and then the discussion takes off in a helpful direction.
And FYI you can get extremely smooth helicopter shots, it's done every day. The reason your shot is shaky isn't because you were on a helicopter it's because you didn't make arrangements to get a smooth shot on the helicopter.
Your not the victim in this thread you chose to attack a poster because you didn't like his responses to your question. They may have been sarcastic but they were valid.
