I made candy glass and im throwing a hollowed out grenade through it but i need something to fake the explosion, i dont need fire, just a flash of light and lots of smoke, any ideas on how to do this? Thanks again!

are you filming from inside the room?
or is it like they threw a nade from the outside and you only film from the outside (and have a view of the window)?
if it's the latter, you could, on one of the frames, make the window go white, not completely though, just enough to kinda show there was a flash inside the room. That's if you're talking about a flashbang.
If you want to add smoke and the likes, you could probably try a particle emitter such as Particle Illusion, then add that to the video. It would work pretty good if you film from the outside with a view to the window. Like this:
1. You film the grenade throw which breaks the window, you cut to the nade rolling on the floor. then when you shoot from outside you could add a green screen on the window so you can add the particles to it. take a picture of the inside though also, so you can use multi layers to make it look good:
top layer: the video from the outside with the green screen on the window.
2nd layer: the particle capture (which you will have to key in).
3rd layer: picture taken of the inside. (the picture must be taken from the outside)
i think that should work

thanks alot, i think that would work well but im going to use a very bright light for the flash beforehand.

You can use a flashpot, available at magic and theatre supply stores (not too expensive). Or you could make a flashpot with a glowplug (used for model planes), available at a hobby shop.
