Smash Moron SFX series

Hello friends. This is my first time posting a topic. I'm in the middle of a project of creating a series of 1.5 minute episodes for a cell phone content provider in Canada. We're spoofing the old Flash Gordon series from the 1930's Everything is being done much the way "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". We're shooting the actors on a green screen set and compositing them into CGI environments. Everything at this point has been shot on the DVX100A. We're trying to move up to the SDX900 for DVCPRO 50's 4:2:2 color space. You can view the first 3 episodes for free at this site:

It's a lot of fun. I'm co directing with a friend of mine. It was his idea. I'm shooting and doing the FX work. I'm also the voice of the narrator. :) lol
I hope you all enjoy it.

Well - it wasn't bad at all - hehe "That comets got a gun!~"

Made me smile :)

One thing that would be nice, and would maybe have more people responding to your thread, is to have them all together, rather than having to download seperate episodes.

Not bad at all, keep doing it man

It kind of reminded me of Space Balls. I think it would be more effective if you added like a shake to the footage to where everytime they would get blasted or hit an object. What 3d program was used to do the CG?

It was coo.

Hey Guys, thanks for the thoughts. The company Owwzone are the people who contracted us to make this series. Once we give them the episodes, they post them on their site as separate downloads. A little out of our hands.
I agree, that "camera" shake would be pretty effective. We actually tried it and then thought against it because they will be viewed on cell phones. We didn't know what that kind of movement would be like on such small screens. I am putting it back in for the cast & crew copies.
For the FX, we're using Maya, and After Effects. I'm still a little new to 3D. Maya's a pretty complex program. lol

Those were fun. The FX were just cheesy enough. What camera did you use for the live action Did you use bluescreen or greenscreen? What software did you use for the effects?

Congratulations on the cellphone gig. Good luck!

Nice work, is this company based in Edmonton cause I noticed it on the news headline at that owzone website. If so I wouldnt mind putting together something for them. How much do they pay?
