Smart cat

Mino

Northern Dreamer
I am still laughing as I write this but truly amazed also. My cat had misplaced her little plastic scrunchy toy she loves to play fetch with. I throw it she brings it back for hours. I have a dresser in my closet to save space and I'd left the bi-fold doors open. Mini (the cat) was busy staring under the dresser meowing quietly all the while thrusting her paw under the dresser. Eventually she worked the lower drawer open with her claws then she systematically pulled all the clothes out using her claws again. All this while I'm laughing at her antics. When she had most of the clothes out so she could get in, she jumped in and then wiggled over the back face of the drawer onto the carpet under the dresser that she couldn't reach from the front. A few seconds later she emerged with her scrunchy toy in her mouth, walked over to me and dropped it at my feet. It was funny to watch but then I started thinking about the smarts it took to pull off this stunt...Cats will never cease to amaze me!

The best part would to just see the cat some up to you, drop the toy and look up at you.

That's a funny story.

I'm glad that dresser didn't have a piece of 1/8" ply on the bottom. That cat would have been really confused, or smart enough not to try. Given the post I'm leaning towards the latter.

My roomate had 2 cats. The big aplha male tabby I thought acted more like a dog so we got along good. But he didn't pull off anything as intelligent as your cat. That's one smart kitty. My (rm's) cat knew what "Want some tuna?" meant though. Amazing creatures.

She was a fifty dollar mutt who growled fiercely at me for taking her away from the pet store. The vet said she was only four weeks old and was far to young to have been separated from her mother. At five weeks she met our friends great dane whom she perceive as a threat and clawed him so badly he hid under the kitchen table and would not come out until Mini was locked in the bedroom. She also seems to try to mimic human speech by breaking her meows up into sylables, this is something I'll have to try and capture on tape and post. Most cats go meooow but Mini will say me...Ow...Ow....wooooow...ow,ow,,,,ooooow, wow, wow. I know it means something, but have not been able to decode it so far:) She is a real treasure!

Mino I have a cat that enjoys the same game. Usually I use a little plastic ring.
